HTLV-1 Protease and Inhibitor Discoveries

The information about Human T-cell Leukemia Virus-I (HTLV-I), HTLV-I protease, and newly discovered HTLV-I protease inhibitors are discussed in details. Kinetic characterization of various constructs of HTLV-1 protease, and the effect of C-terminal residues of this enzyme was investigated. Also, computational studies targeting HTLV-1 protease led to new discoveries of inhibitors, that show effect in HTLV-1 infected cells.

Autor

Ahu Demir was born in Ankara, Turkey. In January 2005, Ahu joined the Chemistry Department in University of Florida.She received her PhD from University of Florida in the fall of 2010, and completed her first postdoctoral training at Columbia University. She currently is at NYU for her second postdoctoral training.
