However, if the person still resists arrest despite the verbal orders, the police can use a Taser instead of resorting to deadly gunshots to protect lives. Police can also use techniques to de-escalate situations without anyone getting hurt. "Regardless of a person's skin color, ethnicity, gender, or where they live, no one should have to die, be treated brutally, or face permanent injuries just because they had an encounter with the police, and this includes police officers themselves."
