There are approximately 55,000 base words and well over 60,000 word hooks listed. As what constitutes the English language changes from nation to nation and even between regions of a single country, I have tried to include all peculiarly national terms, e.g. didjeridu (Australia's spelling for a unique aboriginal instrument!) as well as those of a regional nature, e.g. spaldeen (New York City's term for a hollow pink rubber ball!) Just one cautionary note.please be aware this volume contains pejorative terms, as well as those generally considered to be of a scatological or vulgar nature. Their inclusion is not meant to imply this writer in any way approves of heir usage. However, they are included in the most unabridged of dictionaries, so this book is not breaking new grounds of brazenness.
