The citizens of Sikkim were introduced to higher education since 1977 only. First university level institution came into existence due to private initiative and thereafter a revolution in higher education started in Sikkim. While giving a brief insight into the history of education in Sikkim, this book describes in a lucid way the origin and development of institutions imparting higher education in the state of Sikkim with particular emphasis on their present status. The prospects of higher education for Sikkim in 21st century have also been analyzed.
