I believe that I was born with the disease of addiction, it was just waiting for the right time to shine. The summer going into grade nine proved to be that moment. I loved how alcohol and drugs made me not care or think about how sad I was. Over the years I have been and still am addicted to many things. I've struggled with this disease, I have lost and I have conquered. Just when I think I'm in control along comes a crisis or a new relationship that tests my boundaries and my will. Until we've worked on the part of the brain that causes these distorted thoughts we are going to continue repeating the cycle of insanity.

Autor

I was born in Goderich On. in 1970, raised by my single mother until 1981-82. We moved to Guelph halfway through grade eight, then to Oshawa for grade ten. I left home at 16 when my life went down a different path. I'm blessed with three children a daughter in law and a happy handsome grandson. I lost the father of my children 21 years ago and my sister and best friend within four days of each other in 2018. Most may not agree with the choices I've made in my life or how I live. To my family, I hope you know that I did what I thought was best for all of us. I'm far from perfect, I struggle everyday with this disease of the brain and I always will. I believe what's made a difference in my life now is I keep in close contact with my family, keep appointments when I make them and try to remember to pray for help everyday.
