The following procedure may be followed to check the efficiency of a compressor.- Back seat the suction and discharge service valves and then remove the plugs.- Attach a pressure gauge to the discharge valve and a compound gauge to the suction valve port.- Check both the valves.- Start the compressor and throttle the discharge valve until pressure head of 9 bar is maintained.- Closethe suction valve slowly and when it is completely closed note the vacuum on the compound stage.- The compressor may be considered as operating satisfactorily.
