Usually, he tries to focus on human rights and social issues in all of his activities. He starts his career as an assistant director and scriptwriter in this sector in 2008. He started his filmmaker career in 2013 with television fiction and television commercial direction. He has been involved in independent filmmaking since 2014. From that time to till date, he released 10 short films. 12 Television Fiction, He has published 4 books and 5 Documentary films. With that, he is an article writer in a reputed National newspaper. Sahadat Russell won 16 awards at film festivals in USA, France, Canada, India, and Bangladesh combined and each of them dealt with social issues.
