Laureato in Medicina Veterinaria presso l'Università Federale di Rio Grande do Sul (1974), master in Scienze Veterinarie presso l'Università Federale di Rio Grande do Sul (1995) e dottorato in Scienze Veterinarie presso l'Università Federale di Rio Grande do Sul (2004). Attualmente è professore associato 4 presso la Facoltà di Scienze Veterinarie dell'UFRGS.
