That is, we go on about our business without having any insightful clue as to who we really are. In effect, we are complying with some guidance, but what it is, and where did it come from? I take this book's little from a film I saw countless years ago about a young boy tasked with flying a space ship solo. He's not been trained as an astronaut; he's not a rocket scientist on a test flight. However, he does have a very unusual guidance system. Unseen beings (?) help him. He respectfully defers to them, and regularly asks for their help, saying "Guidance?" And when he tunes in to their direction, he replies with happy confidence, "Compliance!"
