Green Village and Town Construction in China

By means of multidisciplinary research on urban and rural planning, construction engineering, environmental engineering and engineering sociology, this book conducts pioneering research on the construction theory, construction methods, evaluation technology and application of demonstration projects in China's green villages and towns. The book is divided into three parts and eleven chapters. Part I is about the theory and development of green village and town construction, including the theory and innovation, the evolution and development, the patterns and mechanisms, and the community of green village and town construction. Part II is about the planning and construction methods of green villages and towns, including the plan compilation, the environmental infrastructure construction, and the construction and renovation of green buildings in villages and towns. Part III is about the evaluation of the planning and construction of green villages and towns, including the evaluation ofplans, the evaluation of environmental infrastructure construction, the evaluation of green building construction, and the comprehensive evaluation of the planning and construction of green villages and towns. Today, 564 million farmers live in 28,500 towns and 2.452 million villages in China. In 2018 alone, 820 million m2 of new houses were built in rural areas. This proves that China's green village and town construction has great significance and can provide enlightenment to developing countries and even to the world. The book describes new theories, new perspectives and new methods of green village and town sustainable construction in China for overseas experts and readers.

Autor

Professor Xiaoming Wang is Member of Chinese Society for Sustainable Development, Member of Expert Committee of National Sustainable Development Experimental Zone, Expert of National Innovation Demonstration Zone of Sustainable Development Agenda, Member of Integrated Disaster Prevention Committee of China Architectural Society for Green Buildings in Village and Town and Green Construction Expert of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. His main research fields are sustainable city and sustainable building, green urban and rural construction, addressing climate change in urban and rural areas, protection and renewal of historic and cultural cities. He has presided and completed more than 20 national research programs, more than 30 practical projects and 4 international co-research programs in fields of urban and rural construction plans, sustainable development plans, green village and town construction and energy-saving building demonstration projects. He alsopublished more than 180 papers which including 40 English papers and 4 books. The project "Yanhe Ecological Village Construction Comprehensive Demonstration in Hubei Province" he presided over was selected in the 11th Five-Year Chinese Major Science and Technology Achievement Exhibition in 2011, and the project "Demonstration of Modern Village and Town Construction & Information Technology Support" he presided over won the Major Scientific and Technological Achievements of Hubei Province in 2010.     Hong Hua is Associate Professor of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Her main research fields are sustainable improvement of living environment, green ecological urban and rural construction, environmental quality evaluation, urban and rural response to climate change and low-carbon development. She has presided over 2 national scientific research programs, undertook 8 national research projects related village and town construction and more than 10 scientific and technological application projects of village and town construction. She participated in 3 international cooperative research programs. She also published 30 papers and 1 book as co-author. The project "Research and Demonstration on Integration of Carbon Emission Measurement Standards for Urban Buildings and Key Technologies of Low Carbon Design" she presided over won the second prize of the 2016 national "Science and Technology Award of Huaxia Construction," the project "Yanhe Ecological Village Construction Comprehensive Demonstration in Hubei Province" she participated was selected in the 11th Five-Year Chinese Major Science and Technology Achievement Exhibition in 2011, and the project "Demonstration of Modern Village and Town Construction & Information Technology Support" she participated won the Major Scientific and Technological Achievements of Hubei Province in 2010.
