He made his film debut in 1906 as Ned Kelly in The Story of the Kelly Gang. He acted in three films in 1911, and in 1913 he partnered with W. J. Lincoln to make films as the Lincoln-Cass Film Company. The company survived for only one year, but in that time it made eight films, with Cass playing roles in six of them. He then took a break from acting, returning to acting in 1920 as Ned Kelly in Harry Southwell's The Kelly Gang. He made a further eight films over the next fifteen years. He died in 1951.
