This new volume, Global Transformations of the 21st Century: The Future of Humans, Markets, and Capital, articulates the most striking and interesting points of view of scientists from different countries on current issues of socioeconomic development. The volume discusses the basic ideas of the methodology of applying the noonomy approach not only to the analysis of the modern socioeconomic system but also to forecasting the prospects for its transformation and long-term development, drawing attention to the fact that it is knowledge, and not scientific and technological progress per se, that is the deep engine driving humanity, society, and civilization forward. At the same time, the theory conjectures, the long-term development of society must have a humanistic content; therefore, inevitably, along with socioeconomic transformations, changes in humans themselves should be expected. The theoretical aspects and basic postulates as well as the applied tools for measuring and managing quality in economics at all levels are explored, discussing the current stage of socioeconomic development in accordance with dialectical concepts of development, accompanied by the transition of accumulated quantitative changes into qualitative ones. The volume discusses many aspect of the noonomy theory, exploring * the quantitative and qualitative indicators of economic development quality issues * the hypothesis that human creative abilities should be considered as one of the factors that drive the changes taking place in the socioeconomic system, and their stimulation and development of human creative abilities should be encouraged through the formation of appropriate institutions * the weakness of traditional social and economic concepts that fail to adequately explain today's observed transformations, emphasizing that theoretical rethinking of long-held theories, the introduction of new elements such as the noonomy theory, and the inclusion of large amounts of empirical material into scientific discourse are essential * the imperfections of the liberal model of capitalism and how the noonomy theory can serve as a tool for this correction * the regional features of nootransition-the uneven and asymmetrical development of their constituent regions as obstacles to the socioeconomic development of the countries as a whole * and more This volume is a result of scientific discussions within international theoretical seminars of the S.Y. Witte Institute for New Industrial Development, "Global Transformations of the 21st Century: The Future of Humans, Markets, and Capital" at scientific centers in Russia, Europe, US, Canada and China.
