Auta Balefi, located in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, North-Central Nigeria, lies within the Precambrian Basement Complex on the Keffi Sheet 208NW. The Nigerian Basement Complex consists of three main lithological groups: the Migmatite-Gneiss Complex, the Schist Belts, and the Older Granites. In the study area, the basement rocks are dominantly granite, migmatite gneiss, granite gneiss, and schist. Previous studies, notably by Rahaman (1988) and Dada (2006), focused on regional mapping at a scale of 1:100,000, which provided broad geological insights but left gaps in local deta...
Previous studies, notably by Rahaman (1988) and Dada (2006), focused on regional mapping at a scale of 1:100,000, which provided broad geological insights but left gaps in local detail. To address this, the present research emphasizes detailed geological and petrographic studies at a finer scale of 1:25,000. Such an approach allows for more precise mapping of outcrops and structural features, while also highlighting petrographic characteristics. The findings not only deepen understanding of the area's geology but also contribute to the broader knowledge of Nigeria's Basement Complex.
