This is a book concerned with the longevity of dynastic rulership. It explores the history of a ducal ruling family in the German-speaking part of the Holy Roman Empire over three generations from the late sixteenth to the first half of the seventeenth century.

Autor

Regine Maritz is an early modern historian interested in the cultural histories of gender, the body (politic), and violence. She studied at the Queen's University Belfast for a B.A. in Modern History and International Studies, before moving to the University of Cambridge where she completed her graduate studies as well as a Ph.D. in Early Modern History. She has been the Robert Owen Bishop Fellow of Christ's College in Cambridge, and has held research fellowships at the Sorbonne-Université and the German Historical Institute in Paris, as well as at the University of Bern. She currently works in research management at the Swiss National Science Foundation.
