He was elected at the 2010 general election as Member of Parliament (MP) for Dartford, winning the seat from Labour. Johnson had stood in Dartford at the 2005 General Election, reducing the Labour majority to just 706 votes. Prior to his election as an MP, he has also held the positions of Councillor and Constituency Chairman.
