Respiratory mycoses can be broadly categorized as endemic mycoses and opportunistic mycoses. Endemic mycoses are diseases caused by fungi that are restricted in distribution to certain discrete geographic regions. They include: Histoplasmosis, Blastomycosis, Paracoccidioidomycosis, and Coccidioidomycosis. The opportunistic mycoses have a cosmopolitan distribution and comprise a large group of fungal diseases.
