This work reviews the history of the largest urban occupation in Goiás, which took place in 2004 in the Parque Oeste Industrial region, on a large private area. This work reviews the history of the largest urban occupation in Goiás, which took place in 2004 in the Parque Oeste Industrial region, on a large private area. The movement was home to 4,000 families and its eviction, widely covered by the media, was carried out by the Goiás Military Police, with records of violence. The families were taken to sports centres and then to a temporary area in the Grajaú sector. They lived in tarpaulin shacks until they were finally settled in the Residencial Real Conquista, which was built to house them and only completed in 2014. This work seeks to unite all the threads of a serious urban conflict that has produced a social fracture, the consequence of a historical process of social segregation in Goiânia. The data was collected through bibliographical research, press reports, official documents and field research carried out with residents and workers at Residencial Real Conquista. This study is justified by the great social impact of the issue, considering that housing is one of the main human rights provided for in the Federal Constitution.
