A further enhancedproduction was obtained when only all male prawn juveniles were included in such polyculture. Periodic selective harvesting of large blue-clawed (BC) and orange-clawed(OC) males from all-male culture,and large males and females from mixed culture can enhance the growth of small prawns. After successful completion of theexperiment it was found that selective harvesting of male prawns at 15 days interval resulted in higher rate of production andprofit.The selective harvesting technique of large individuals of prawns will lead to higher production offreshwater prawn in Bangladesh as well as in other parts of the globe.
