Over the last few years application of assisted reproduction technologies like in vitro embryo production through in vitro maturation, fertilization and culture of oocytes, establishment of oocyte banks have provide much needed impetus to the work which is being put in for the conservation of these elite breeds of goat. Follicular oocytes can be retrieved from the ovaries of those animals that are presented for slaughter in a way becoming the cheapest available source. The collected oocytes can be preserved for generations at subzero temperature.
