Firefly, A Story about Loveis a heartwarming book that shows kindness often involves small acts and sometimes personal sacrifice. Firefly shows how one can overcome their desires and do what is best for another living creature. The author was inspired to write the book after watching her young daughter, Katharine, putting pill bugs in bottles, their new home. Beary is the toy of her son, Ty, who named the bear and insisted on its spelling. Elise is named after her granddaughter. The illustrations were drawn by Karen who wanted her debut book to also entertain its readers after remembering the fun her third grade class had after checking out books from the school library. Together, the story and its illustrations help readers, young or old, to value those around them and do what is best for them. After all, isn't that what love is all about? JK Miller is the pen name of Karen Miller, a wife, mother, and retired teacher who has always loved books and children. During the pandemic, Karen began writing for a local paper, Southland Voice. This allowed Karen to improve her writing skills. After moving to the Chicago area in 2018, Karen found an old copy of a story she had written in 1982. With the boost of confidence that writing for Southland Voice gave her, Karen decided it was time to publish her story.
