Brett Hayes is currently teaching creative writing and English 4 as well as coaching middle and high school athletics. He and his wife have four sons and four grandsons. He lives in southeastern Oklahoma, where he enjoys fishing, watching the grandsons, writing, and reading. He has gone to the dark side of high school athletics by officiating football and basketball, and umpiring softball and baseball.
