Autor

Dr. Sherri James is currently the Founder and Owner of an integrative medicine practice known as BMI Wellness Concepts, PLLC. She has more than 25 years of diverse leadership and practical experience as a family doctor. Her career spans across several medical sectors including Federally Qualified Community Health Centers, public health, rural medicine, occupational medicine, and opioid dependency. She initially earned her BS in Pharmacy from the Florida A&M University and later earned an MD degree from the University of Miami. She went on to complete a Family Medicine Residency at UT Houston, a Rural Medicine Fellowship in Shreveport, LA and East Texas, a Masters in Healthcare Administration from UT Dallas and certification as a Professional Health Coach from the Duke Integrative Medicine Institute. As a physician and wellness advocate, she strives to educate patients according to a "wellness model" rather than the traditional "sick model" of healthcare as we know it today in the United States. By doing so, she hopes to eliminate health disparities and to make our communities healthy and wealthy - because your health is your greatest wealth. Her motto is: Get Well, Be Well, Stay Well.
