This study dealt with the figurative language in Lua-Lua Mbowo Sebua Nias movie. The objectives of the study were to investigate the types of figures of speech used in Lua-Lua Mbowo Sebua Nias movie and the use of figures of speech in the movie itself. This study was conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The data of this study were all utterances in Lua-Lua Mbowo Sebua Nias movie episode 1-2. The findings showed that there were four types of figures of speech used in the movie consecutively, Idioms (47%), Proverbs (31%), Metaphor (20%) and Irony (2%) but, there was no Metonymy in the movie. The use of types of figures of speech in the movie was influenced by the situation in each scene that refered to philosophy of life, norms, advice, belief or culture of Nias people.
