These exceptional properties of CNTs have been investigated for devices such as field-emission displays, scanning probe microscopy tips and micro-electronic devices etc. The thesis focuses on synthesis of carbon nanotubes on nanocrystalline films by Low-Pressure CVD and Electron Cyclotron Resonance CVD and their future application as field emitters. Different Ni95Ti5, Fe70Pd30 and Fe70Pt30 nanocrystalline films as catalyst material were prepared by vapour condensation technique. The alloys of Ni95Ti5, Fe70Pt30 and Fe70Pd30 were prepared using arc-discharge method. The morphologies of the as-grown CNT film were obtained using SEM, TEM and HRTEM, Raman Spectrometer and FESEM.
