Cogeneration is defined as the simultaneous production of two or more types of energy. In a cogeneration system, heat is either in the form of high-pressure steam or hot water. For example, hot steam from an electricity production turbine can be used to supply energy for other uses. In addition, cogeneration provides benefits to the industrial sector as well as to the country as a whole. This is because the industrial sector sees reflected a saving of primary energy; oil, natural gas, coal and biomass, by having a more efficient system of energy resources. At the country level, the benefits lie in the reduction of polluting emissions into the environment due to the fact that less fuel is burned.
