About the Author Vanessa Owens Chambers is a native of Stanly County and grew up in New London, North Carolina where she resides to this day. She was one of eleven children to her parents Leroy and Mattie, six boys and five girls. Her family was very close and loved each other, even through their disagreements. Chambers is married to a wonderful man of God, Kenneth and they are blessed with two beautiful daughters and one son, Kimberly, Stephanie, and Nathan. They are also blessed with two great sons-in-law, four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
