One of the challenges faced by materials scientists today is the synthesis of materials with desired shape, composition, morphology, and properties for specific applications. There is always an increasing demand for alternate routes to the synthesis of metal oxide materials that give superior properties when compared with those available from conventional methods. Novel metal oxide nanostructures can be generated by a number of preparation methods that typically are described as physical and chemical methods.
