We used the Jefferson Empathy Scale to assess empathy in physicians, and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale to assess anxiety and depressive symptomatology.The determinants of empathy in GPs are not yet fully elucidated. For this reason, large-sample studies are needed.
