The book contains the elements of traditional Anglican liturgical worship with the addition of the eucharistic prayers of Saint Serapion, Bishop of Thmuis (ca. 339-360). He was a close friend of Saint Athanasius of Alexandria and staunchly defended Orthodoxy against Arianism earning him the title "Confessor" by Saint Jerome. The prayers written by Serapion were found in an 11th century manuscript at the Great Lavra on Mount Athos and represent one of the earliest extant liturgical expressions. One of the unique features of this Anaphora is a "Word" epiclesis, which is found in several other Eastern and Gallican liturgical Rites. May this Prayer Book be a blessing to all that use it.
