The publications of the Hakluyt Society (founded in 1846) made available edited (and sometimes translated) early accounts of exploration. This volume contains two diaries about Turkey. Dallam, an organ-builder, was sent by Queen Elizabeth to Constantinople in 1600. Covel went with the British ambassador from 1670â 1677, and travelled widely.
