E-government implementation in developing countries is advogated as a tool that can contribute to accelerate development processes. This book, agrees that e-government can play that role however,these initiatives tend to be implemented within an economic development perspective that tends to marginalize concerns of the human well-being. The capability approach drawn from the works of Amartya Sen, which emphasizes the moral side of development and the enhancement of human capabilities, is seen as a useful means to try and redress this imbalance.

Autor

Gertrudes Macueve, nació en Maputo, Mozambique. Es egresada de la Universidade Eduardo Mondlane en Ciencias de la Computación. En 2003 obtuvo su maestría y en 2008 su doctorado. Ambos diplomas fueron en sistemas de información de la Universidad de Oslo. Actualmente, es profesora de la Universidad Eduardo Mondlane en el Departamento de Ciencias de la Computación.
