In this book the dual phase steel (advanced steel known commercially as dual phase) was analysed. This analysis comprised its obtainment, its mechanical properties, the relationship between its microstructure and its performance and a comparison with a microalloyed steel. The use of advanced steels can provide manufacturing cost reduction due to the weight reduction of the component, besides improvement in its performance in service. The following characteristics are studied: processing, chemical composition, microstructure and mechanical properties.

Autor

Marcos Roberto de Castro is a mechanical engineer and holds a Masters in Materials Engineering from Mackenzie Presbyterian University. He works in the design and development of stamped products for vehicle bodies. He is a PhD candidate in Materials Engineering at the Institute for Energy and Nuclear Research (IPEN) in São Paulo.
