Modification of the anticancer drug cisplatin was investigated by designing hybrid molecules of the platinum moiety with peptide motifs. New cisplatin analogs were synthesized and DNA interaction studies were performed. A mixture of cationic metal complexes with positively charged peptides was chosen as the strategy to facilitate DNA binding induced by DNA preassociation and bending of the DNA target.
