The advanced computer technology that caused this mass shapeshifting event was used by the conspirators to extort the world's leaders once everyone was brought back. The threat of returning people to their morphed states paved the road to the positive changes sought by the two government officials who caused the disturbing shift. Thinking that it was all over after this unsettling event happened and the world started to change for the better was a mistake though. No one realized that this technology could fall into the hands of two misplaced computer techs who were angry and vengeful.
