All of this points to the fact that this book, while presenting works of art from different periods and genres that deserve to be better known, is marked by the intention to escape established canons and promote new approaches to art history. On the other hand, it should be emphasized that reading the following pages points to a preference for an approach to the work of art that does not emphasize the autonomy of the artistic object and its form. What all the studies presented have in common is the intention to situate the work of art in its lived context and to characterize the gaze as a practice, emphasizing, in particular, the relationships that characterize the dialogue between images. From a methodological point of view, a varied intertextual dialogue between works of art is presented, which points to a productive path for research in art history. The proposed approach thus breaks down the boundaries between artistic languages, highlighting that the arts are intensely related. Certainly, the direct tone of the essays collected, almost in the tone of a chronicle, brings the reader closer to the works of art, including them in the world of images and the dialogue of the arts.
