Many soil bins (and machines) have been developed with varying degrees of success to model the conditions found in the field. However, in Ghana and other sub-Saharan African countries, facilities are lacking in research institutions and colleges. This necessitated the need to develop a wear test equipment for carrying out research in the laboratory. They equipment works quite well and can mimic what happens on the field.
