This book has been designed to bring attention towards opportunities and barriers within the new climate regime to develop schools to low carbon or climate friendly sustainable schools. This study is entirely based on giving renewable technological options to attainment of zero or low carbon in Easterside Primary School and St Thomas More RC Primary School which is one of the ten s principle of One Planet Living as adopted by Middlesbrough Council in joint partnership with Middlesbrough Environment City. The aim of the study was to develop energy models in order to reduce carbon emissions in Easterside estate through selected schools. Moreover, the study has been developed on the basis of collecting, analysing, and interpreting the historical data along with generating the feasibility of future energy scenario, and developing a well-defined project model based on Energy Descent Action Plan as proposed for 20 years. This study brings attention to government and other respective stakeholders to take more initiative in highlighting and implementing the low carbon technologies and become a part of eco-friendly or low carbon sustainable community.

Bhupendra Das (MSc in Environmental Technology, Teesside University, UK and MSc & BSc in Environmental Science, Tribhuvan University, Nepal) is involved as Environmental Projects Researcher in Middlesbrough Environment City, UK. Moreover, he has worked in government and non government organizations of Nepal as well as for The University of Tokyo.
