Evelyn Waugh (1903-1966) was a distinguished English novelist, biographer, and travel writer, renowned for his sharp satirical wit and technical prowess. Born in Hampstead, London, he was the son of a publisher and was educated at Lancing College and Hertford College, Oxford. His early works, such as Decline and Fall and Vile Bodies, satirize British society, while his later masterpiece, Brideshead Revisited, explores themes of faith and nostalgia within the context of the English aristocracy.
