A period of crisis for Western values, the inter-war period saw the emergence of writers concerned with the human condition, with what it was like to live in this period. It was in this climate that Louis-Ferdinand Céline's Voyage au bout de la nuit (Journey to the End of the Night) was born, painting life as it is, in all its desolation, decrepitude and decadence.Within the framework of the stylistics of enunciation and the stylistics of expression, this study sets out to show how decay is rendered through the structures of enunciation that show the dialogue between the speaker and various receivers. On the other hand, this work presents a degradation that is not only that of human, social and individual values, but also of the physical and psychological essence of mankind . This analysis thus remains highly topical, since it is based on a perpetual reconsideration of the values advocated and of mankind's experience in modern (or postmodern) times.
