Universities have been subjected to continuous government reforms since the 1980s, to make them 'entrepreneurial', 'efficient' and aligned to the predicted needs and challenges of a global knowledge economy. Under increasing pressure to pursue 'excellence' and 'innovation', many universities are struggling to maintain their traditional mission to be inclusive, improve social mobility and equality and act as the 'critic and conscience' of society. Drawing on a multi-disciplinary research project, University Reform, Globalisation and Europeanisation (URGE), this collection analyses the new landscapes of public universities emerging across Europe and the Asia-Pacific, and the different ways that academics are engaging with them.

Autor

Susan Wright spent most of her growing up years in Orlando, Florida. In 1988 while serving overseas on a mission project, she met her 'Mr. Right', who happened to be a charming Aussie. She then became Mrs. Wright, moved down under and now has four adult children. Susan is a professional teacher, with a B.S.Ed from Auburn University (USA) and a Master of Education from The University of Queensland (Australia). For most of her week, she is a faith educator in schools and church, however, in 2016 she began an online YouTube channel (Wright Ideas with Susan) where she teaches and supports parents, volunteers and educators all over the world. Her website also provides downloadable teaching resources that are simple and easy to use. Recently, Susan has ventured into writing and publishing children's books. It is her desire that her books and resources will be useful and enjoyed by countless children, teachers and families.
