For Emily, the idea of living alone in the house Trudy and she shared for that length of time was not an option. While she has her bridge group friends and a helpful young male friend, Matthew (who she hoped would be her son-in-law someday), Trudy was her best friend and she knew she would be very lonely and feel isolated in the house, especially since she no longer felt comfortable driving. Emily takes it upon herself to find an alternative and with the help of Matthew discovers Orchard Pines Residence and Spa, a large facility for adults no longer wanting to live alone but still able to take care of themselves. She decides to move to a small apartment there while Trudy is away. If she thought she would just live quietly at Orchard Pines, she was very mistaken.
