Geologist Harry Dalton is a volcano expert sent to investigate seismic activity near the picture-postcard town of Dante's Peak. He quickly realizes that something big is about to happen. With the help of Mayor Rachel Wando and her children, it is possible lives can be saved. Although no one can stop a volcano, maybe, just maybe, a total disaster can be averted.
