Set in Bordeaux in the early 2000s, local lad Jean-Claude Bourjois, the technical director of top-flight vineyard Château La Fayette, just wants a quiet life making classic claret. Rescue seems at hand when two of the world's leading wine experts - dynamic young American Laura Appleton and ageing British playboy Quincy Dubloon - invite Jean-Claude to join them in transforming Château Belle-Mère, an obscure bankrupt vineyard with potential. Laura, however, has an obsessive ulterior motive in luring handsome Jean-Claude away from La Fayette; Quincy's clandestine enterprises in Bordeaux would shock both Laura and Jean-Claude. Yet none of them could ever imagine the machinations of Belle-Mère's bitter ex-owners. Even though the web of deceit begins to unravel when all three partners move into Belle-Mère's rambling château, Bordeaux itself - 'Europe's most civilised city' - has the last laugh, ensuring that everyone gets their just deserts.

Autor

Glyn Gowans was born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and read Law at Durham University. He joined a major UK law firm, qualified as a solicitor, and specialized in intellectual property. After nineteen years with the firm, he took early retirement to write, moving to Bordeaux, which inspired Cut From The Same Cloth. Two years later, a finca in the Mallorcan countryside became his home, where he completed Gloria! Gloria! (published March 2025), a story of Anglo-American industrial espionage and kidnapping which culminates dramatically on another of the Balearic Islands, heavenly Formentera. Glyn's eleven years in Mallorca generated the satire Infernal Paradise (published July 2025), which tackles the mounting frictions between the Mallorcans and the thousands of Europeans 'colonising' their island. Violence finally erupts, provoking an international crisis. After undertaking extensive research, Glyn has also written a biography of Prince George, Duke of Kent, who died in an air crash in 1942 while serving in the RAF.
