Social capital contributes significantly to Sustainable Development. Social capital is not just the sum of the institutions, which underpin a society it is the glue that holds them together. Increasing evidence shows that social cohesion is critical for societies to prosper economically and for development to be sustainable. The study explicitly defined social and natural capital in the context of sustainable livelihood, different people's views and pinpointed the link between the two capitals. This links were further explored using the pressure-state-response model, sustainable livelihoods framework, asset-based model of agricultural systems. Moreover the study identifies the link between social and natural capital in numerous socio-political and policies enabling mechanisms and case studies from three countries.
