Nordic skiing is one of the healthiest sports. This winter sport strengthens both the cardiovascular system and a large number of muscles. However, for the development of primary school children, the training of coordination skills and the emotional aspect of enjoying and having fun while doing sports in nature with a group are particularly important. Nordic skiing therefore offers incredible potential for physical education and sports lessons in primary schools. This empirical qualitative research project aims to find out whether primary school children are enthusiastic about the winter sport of cross-country skiing and under what conditions it can be implemented in physical education and sports lessons. Twenty-five children were interviewed during their cross-country skiing training, as were seven primary school teachers who teach this sport to their pupils. In addition, two female cross-country skiing coaches and one male cross-country skiing coach made themselves available asexperts for this study.
