She was awarded a silver for the Shankar International art competition in 1983 and was also an ESSO University scholar in 1988. She was the only person in Singapore to be double promoted at school in 1977. Million is the elder of 2 daughters by primary school teachers, Hood Inn and Siok Cheng. Million has a daughter and two sons. Tansy is a lawyer in Singapore, Tiernan is studying psychology at James Cook University and Tierney at the University of Cambridge. All three are strong swimmers, proficient in music and have black belts in Taekwondo.
