Inorganic chemistry is one of the three sub-disciplines of chemistry, alongside organic and physical chemistry. It generally refers to the study of the elements and compoiunds which are of mineral origins, such as iron and chlorine.

The treatment of the inorganic aspects of environmental chemistry has also been extended.
