Drawn from a comprehensive survey of the literature from 2005-8, this Volume 13 contains both functional group transformations and carbon-carbon bond forming reactions and presents examples of published reactions for the preparation of monofunctional compounds. Author Michael Smith uses criteria for listing reactions that examines the real synthetic utility of the reaction, as well as the use of reagents that are either readily available or easily prepared and handled in the laboratory.
