We hypothesized a strong association between hemostatic changes and liver disease because hemostasis is intimately related to liver function; extent of coagulation abnormalities depends upon the degree of disturbed liver function. Coagulation abnormalities in patients with liver diseases were occurred from impairments in the clotting and fibrinolytic systems, as well as from reduced number and function of platelets. This study was conducted to evaluate the haemostatic defects among Sudanese patients with liver diseases by estimating first line investigation in coagulation profile as index of activity of primary and secondary hemostasis.
