It is a savagely satirical, powerful and heart-breaking story about a class reunion in Vienna with revelations about the events of the mens' youths and the lasting consequences of their actions when young.

Autor

Franz Werfel was born in Prague in 1890 and died in August, 1945, at Los Angeles, where he had settled as a refugee from the Hitler regime. He was survived by his wife Alma (1879-1962), who was the widow of the composer Gustav Mahler and had been divorced from the modernist architect Walter Gropius before marrying Werfel.
